Stratosphere18-50 kmThis layer contains the ozone layer. The temperature remains fairly constant (-600 C).
Mesosphere50-80The coldest region of the atmosphere. The temperature drops to about -1000 C.
Ionosphere80-400 kmRadio waves are bounced off the ions and reflect waves back to the Earth. This helps radio communication.
