Delhi recorded the highest per capita income among all states in the country at Rs 2,40,849 during financial year 2014-15. Delhi’s per capita income in 2014-15 has increased to Rs 2.41 lakh from Rs 2.12 lakh in the previous fiscal, a rise of nearly 13.50 per cent over the period. Puducherry recorded the second highest per capita income in the country at Rs 1,75,006 followed by Haryana at Rs 1,47,076 during 2014-15.

EX-JOURNALIST’S NGO BUYS DON’S HOTEL
Balakrishnan, a former journalist from Mumbai, on Wednesday made the winning bid of Rs. 4.28 crore for underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s property — a restaurant — in an auction conducted by the Ministry of Finance.Mr. Balakrishnan’s bid, for his NGO Desh Seva Samiti, was among the four made for Hotel Raunaq Afroz, an eatery now renamed by a tenant as Delhi Zaika, on Pakmodia Street, a known hub of the don. Former journalist’s NGO was highest of four bids received for Raunaq Afroz.
FIRST CARGO SHIP ARRIVES IN GOPALPUR
After Phailin cyclone of October 2013, first cargo ship reached Gopalpur port on Odisha coast on Wednesday afternoon.According to Gopalpur Ports Limited (GPL) authorities, the port’s formal inauguration is on December 12.By December next year this port would be capable to handle Dead Weight Tonnage (DWT) of around 80,000 MT. The berth which is ready for cargo handling is 225-metres-long. On Wednesday afternoon, cargo ship ‘MV SH Grace’ reached the port and anchored nearby. It would be brought to the only completed berth on Thursday. This vessel would transport around 20,000 MT of illuminate cargo of Odisha Sands Complex (OSCOM) situated near the port in Ganjam district to China.

Odisha is currently ranked as the third most preferred investment destination in India and has significant potential to emerge as the most lucrative State for domestic and global investors, trade and industry, provided it undertakes further initiatives to facilitate ‘ease of doing business.
INDIA FOURTH-LARGEST SOURCE OF BLACK MONEY: REPORT
India has been ranked the fourth-biggest source of black money by a US-based think tank, with $510 billion worth of illicit financial flows during 2004-2013, or $51 billion annually, on average. The report says China tops the list for 2004-2013, with $139 billion average illicit financial flow per annum, followed by Russia ($104 billion per annum) and Mexico ($52.8 billion per annum).
CABINET NOD FOR RS.4,000-CRORE PACKAGE FOR SHIP BUILDERS
The Union Cabinet on Wednesday cleared a Rs.4,000-crore package to spur India’s ship building industry, combined with a slew of incentives which include the right of first refusal on all government purchases for Indian shipyards, tax incentives and the ‘infrastructure’ status for shipbuilding and ship repair industry that would help them tap easier financing.
WAR HERO BRIG SANT SINGH, MVC AND BAR RECIPIENT, DIES AT 95
Brig Sant Singh (retd), 95, who had been awarded the Maha Vir Chakra (MVC) in the 1965 as well as 1971India-Pakistan wars, died on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday at a hospital in SAS Nagar.He was among the six officers of the Indian military who were decorated with this gallantry award twice and was the last surviving MVC & Bar.
