Venus Williams won her 47th WTA singles title as opponent Garbine Muguruza pulled out of the Wuhan Open final with an ankle injury when trailing 6-3 3-0.


GOOGLE INC HAS MORPHED INTO ALPHABET INC

The core businesses will be called Google and operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alphabet. Sundar Pichai will head Google. Alphabet will be run by Google co-founder Larry Page and each of its businesses will have its own chief executive. Starting from the company’s fourth quarter in January, Alphabet will have two reporting units — Google and all other Alphabet businesses taken as a whole. Investors have cheered the move, saying it will give them greater visibility into the financial performance of Google’s highly profitable core businesses.


INDIAN SWIMMERS BAG FOUR BRONZE

MARUTI BOARD APPROVES PACT WITH SUZUKI ARM FOR GUJARAT PLANT

The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India’s board has approved a contract manufacturing agreement for a period of up to 30 years proposed to be signed with an arm of parent Suzuki Motor Corp (SMC) for the upcoming plant in Gujarat.
The agreement is proposed to be signed between Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) and Suzuki Motor Gujarat (SMG), a wholly-owned subsidiary of SMC, which will implement the Gujarat project, subject to regulatory and minority shareholder approvals
