 SINDHU SEIZES MACAU OPEN TITLE FOR THIRD TIME

Two-time defending champion P. V. Sindhu completed a hat-trick of women’s singles title at the $ 120,000 Macau Open Grand Prix Gold after defeating Japan’s Minatsu Mitani in the finals . Sindhu produced a dominating game to notch up a 21-9 21-23 21-14 win against sixth seed Mitani in a women’s singles match.


CHOUHAN FIRST NON-CONG CM TO COMPLETE 10 YEARS

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday completed 10 years in office, becoming the first non-Congress chief minister to do so, even as his tenures saw challenges like the Vyapam scam and defeat in recently-held Lok Sabha by-poll.With his two back-to-back terms, Mr. Chouhan broke the record of his predecessor and senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, who ruled the State for two consecutive tenures from 1993-2003.


BIHAR BJP ELECTS SEVEN-TIME MLA PREM KUMAR AS LEGISLATURE PARTY LEADER

The Bihar unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday elected senior party leader and seven-time MLA from Gaya Town Prem Kumar as its legislature party leader. Mr. Kumar will be the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly. Its winter session is scheduled to begin on Monday.


TYSON FURY BECOME NEW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION

Britain’s Tyson Fury was crowned the new world heavyweight champion after a unanimous points win over Wladimir Klitschko, who suffered his first defeat in eleven years. The 27-year-old Fury was awarded the fight in Duesseldorf 115-112, 115-112 and 116-111 on Saturday by the judges to take Klitschko’s WBA, IBF, IBO and WBO belts as the Ukrainian suffered his first defeat since 2004.


NICO ROSBERG BEATS LEWIS HAMILTON IN ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX

Nico Rosberg beat Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton to win the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.The victory was the German’s third in a row.


ANIL KHANNA RE-ELECTED AS ASIAN TENNIS FEDERATION PRESIDENT

Anil Khanna, who was recently elected vice-president of the world tennis body ITF, was today re-elected as the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) president for another four-years. Khanna is also the head of All India Tennis Federation (AITA).

Legese clocked 59.20 minutes to claim the first spot while his compatriot Mosinet Geremew, who was third in 2014, finished a second later. Eritrea’s Zersenay Tadese, the world record holder in half marathon, finished third in 59.24 minutes. It was the first time in the year that six athletes completed the half marathon inside 60 minutes. Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu, who was the ‘Face of the event’, and filmmaker Prakash Jha graced the event alongside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.


DAVIS CUP: ANDY MURRAY CLINCHES IT FOR TEAM GB AFTER 79 YEARS

Great Britain won the Davis Cup for the first time in 79 years in Ghent on Sunday when Andy Murray defeated David Goffin 6-3, 7-5, 6-3 in the first of the reverse singles for a title-clinching 3-1 lead over Belgium in the final. The win over Goffin made him just the third player, after John McEnroe and Mats Wilander, to win all eight singles in the same calendar year since the Davis Cup World Group started in 1981.

Bollywood actors Poonam Dhillon, Raj Babbar as well new entrant Kapil Sharma, along with television actors Karan Patel, Devoleena Bhattacharjee and Sriti Jha emerged big winners at the 14th edition of the awards on Saturday. The show ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ won the Best Comedy Show trophy.
