 Bidhya Devi Bhandari elected Nepal’s first female president

Bidhya Devi Bhandari, vice chairman of the ruling CPN-UML, was on Wednesday elected president of Nepal, making her the first woman to occupy the vaunted post.Bhandari defeated Nepali Congress nominee Kul Bahadur Gurung in the presidential poll to elect the second president of the Himalayan nation, The election result was announced in parliament by Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar.

Himachal Panchayat polls from first week on Nov

The first phase of Panchayat polls in Himachal would commence in the first week of November, the state election commission announced today.Polling for the 42 out of total 3,243 Panchayats and three Zila Parishad members in tribal Bharmaur, Pangi and Kaza areas would be held on November 26, while the programmes for remaining Panchayats would be announced later, state election Commissioner TG Negi said.

RIL, ONGC rank among top-20 global energy firms

Both of India’s largest oil and gas explorers — ONGC and RIL — significantly improved their rankings in the 2015 edition of the benchmark Platts Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings. RIL also regained its top spot among Indian companies on the list, usurping ONGC. RIL,which ranked 22 last year, came in at 14 place in 2015. ONGC improved its rankings from 21 in 2014 to 17 in 2015.
