DOCUMENTATION IN DELHI WILL BECOME EASIER FROM DECEMBER 2015

The decision, which comes in the wake of a recent one taken by the Delhi Cabinet to do away with as many as 200 affidavits which were so far mandatory for the issue of documents ranging from birth to death certificates, will make Delhi the first State in the country to adopt a beginning-to-end approach in relation to the delivery of public services on the basis of self-attestation beginning December 1. 


SINGLE-WINDOW APPROVAL SYSTEM FOR DELHI DISCOM

In Delhi, Right of Way (ROW) approvals are required to be taken by the power utilities from multiple agencies for execution of various electrical works. To solve this problem, the discoms and the Delhi government have agreed upon making the Public Works Department (PWD) the nodal agency. “After deliberations, it has been decided that the PWD will provide online approval for all ROW approvals on behalf of the various agencies. Accordingly, the discom will make the request for approval along with pre-set documents and online payment.


A VIRTUAL POLICE STATION TO TELL ABOUT POLICE FUNCTIONING

The VPS is first-of-its kind training tool to acquaint the public with the functioning of a police station through the click of a mouse.

COUNTRY’S FIRST ALL-ELECTRIC CAR EXPEDITION FLAGGED OFF IN SRINAGAR

In order to create awareness about the advantages of electric mobility, the country’s first all-electric car expedition from Kashmir to Kanyakumari was flagged-off Srinagar today.The expedition was flagged-off by former Sri Lankan international cricketer Aravinda de Silva and Chief Executive Officer, Mahindra Reva, Arvind Mathew.The expedition will be carried out by three fully-equipped, expedition ready, electric cars, which would cover a distance of over 5,000 km.

Young Indian shuttler Siril Verma clinched a silver medal at the BWF World Junior Championships after suffering a narrow defeat against Chinese Taipei’s Chia Hung Lu.  Siril could not cross the final hurdle as his fight ended with a 21-17 10-21 7-21 loss to Chia in a 50-minute battle at the Centro de Alto Rendimiento (CAR).

Apple has announced that it will power all of its operations in Singapore from solar energy, the first company in the city-state to do so. The scheme will also provide electricity to around 9,000 public-owned homes.

Bollywood lost another gem as veteran actor Saeed Jaffery passed away yesterday.The 86-year-old actor had appeared in many British and Indian films and was reportedly the first Indian actor to tour Shakespeare.The cause of his death is not known.
