INDIA PLANS BIG PROJECT ALONG BANGLADESH BORDER
The Cabinet Committee on Security cleared a massive infrastructure project for the Bangladesh border last week. Projects worth Rs. 4,400 crore were cleared by the CCS headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last week, but no announcement was made by the government.
RAJASTHAN GOVT. INKS PACTS FOR HOUSING PROJECTS
Rajasthan government on Tuesday signed 27 pacts worth Rs. 12,478 crore under the Centre’s ‘Housing for All’ programme in housing, healthcare and education sectors in the presence of Union Minister for Urban Development Venkaiah Naidu and state Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.
CYBERDOME TO BECOME OPERATIONAL NEXT MONTH
Cyberdome, the hi-tech centre for cybersecurity being set up by the Kerala Police at the Technopark campus here, is expected to become operational by mid-November.
Inspector General of Police Manoj Abraham said the project was being established on the public-private partnership model with the technical support offered by IT companies. As many as 500 ethical hackers and cybersecurity experts would be involved in the project, he said while addressing an international workshop on cyberthreat-resilience.

Bengali poet Mandakranta Sen on Tuesday returned her Sahitya Akademi Young Writers Special Award to protest against communal attacks in the country.Ms Sen was given the Swarnajayanti Special Sahitya Akademi Young Writers award in 2004.A recipient of Ananda Puraskar and Krittiwas Puraskar, Ms Sen has penned 22 poetry books and seven novels in Bengali.

SIMON TAUFEL QUITS ICC POST
Simon Taufel has resigned as the International Cricket Council (ICC) Umpire Performance and Training manager.The 44-year-old Australian would demit office on October 31. Taufel was known as the best umpire in the world, winning five ICC Best Umpire Awards from 2004 to 2008. He joined the ICC after the World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka in 2012. The ICC, though, is keen to avail Taufel’s expertise with a revised job description.
