GOVT FINALISES ‘SIMPLER AND EASY-TO-SETTLE’ FARM INSURANCE POLICY
The Modi government is finalising a new farm insurance policy with lower premiums and simpler norms for prompt payments, a move aimed at finding a more lasting solution for increasing climate shocks such as droughts.Under the draft proposal, premium is aimed to be brought down to 3% from the current levels between 3.5% and 8%. The insurance scheme will be tied to agro-climatic and land conditions – such as hilly, rain-fed and irrigated – that determine farm output, rather than just crop value.

ALL INDUSTRIES WILL HAVE TO TAKE NOC TO DRAW GROUNDWATER: CGWA GUIDELINES
All industries that draw groundwater for their operations will now have to take a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) to extract groundwater. They added that the new guidelines can ensure that several industries dependent on groundwater in severely parched parts of UP, Haryana, Rajasthan and other states will come under CGWA scanner now, they may be asked to re-use recycled waste-water instead of groundwater depending on the groundwater table in their area.

GRID-CONNECTED SOLAR ROOFTOP UNIT COMMISSIONED
With an aim to tap non-conventional energy sources in a major way, a grid-connected solar roof top unit was commissioned at a building in Nishta Parisar which is an office of the Madhya Pradesh Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company Limited (MPMKVVL). The unit which was commissioned on Tuesday is a part of five MW grid connected solar power project that is being implemented by RattanIndia Solar, a RattanIndia group company, on more than 80 government buildings in Madhya Pradesh across cities of Bhopal, Indore and Jabalpur
MADRAS OIL REFINERY: PACT SIGNED
A 2.5 million tonne oil refinery will be set up in the public sector in Madras under an agreement between the Government of India, National Iranian Oil Company and the American International Oil Company signed . According to present, target the Rs. 24-crore refinery will be commissioned during the first half of 1968. Contracts for work on process design, off-site jobs and site investigations have already been entered into.

GOOGLE OFFERS FREE CLOUD CREDITS TO STARTUPS
Google today announced two new initiatives to strengthen its enterprise presence in India, with a focus on new startups and legacy businesses in the country. On the startup front, Google announced $20,000 worth free credits in Cloud Services for the period of one year to 1000 startups. The company will also offer free consultation and training to these startups. The 1000 startups will need to meet certain criteria with regards to funding, usage, etc to be eligible for the credit.
CABINET APPROVES 10% STAKE SALE IN COAL INDIA
The Union Cabinet gave its approval for the Government to sell 10 per cent of its stake in Coal India. The stake sale will bring down the Government’s holding to 69.65 per cent from 79.65 per cent currently. The timing of the Coal India stake sale will be decided by the Finance Minister, Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy .
